Celebrate 50 Years of History-Making Rock Music with MONOPOLY®: Queen Edition – Available Now!

Not many anthems come to mind in moments of triumph besides the songs of Queen. Heard by generations as a musical backdrop to energize performances on the field and in stadiums, at rallies and even after personal feats, it’s no wonder the British rock band’s choruses are sung, stomped, and synced with celebrations—and wins of the tabletop variety are no exception!

In a timely encore for Queen’s 50th anniversary this year, classic rock and a classic game come together in a collection-bound edition made for the dedicated fans of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon, and Roger Taylor. The MONOPOLY: Queen Edition game pays tribute to one of the world’s most influential rock bands of all time, and it’s available now from The Op!

Rounding up the most memorable aspects of the group’s prolific career, fans can relive the soundtrack of their lives as they buy, sell, and trade gig locations and records from every era of the band’s musical journey. Instead of Houses and Hotels, you’ll be building Staging Blocks and Full Productions on properties named after venues like Wembley Stadium (where Freddie wore his iconic yellow jacket), Hammersmith Odeon (as seen in the live footage of the “Bohemian Rhapsody” video), and multiple times-played Madison Square Garden in NYC.

Six collectible tokens will take you on tour including song-inspired “News of the World” robot Frank, a hammer for “Hammer to Fall”, a vacuum cleaner for the “I Want to Break Free” video, and more. The traditional Community Chest holds A Kind of Magic cards that will get you out of jail, while In the Lap of the Gods give you Chance-like advances or setbacks such as costly cancellations.

Put the “royal we” to work and pick up We Will Rock You or Another One Bites the Dust—just two of the Global Hit Records in place of the four traditional railroads that also happen to be appropriate phrases as you charge rent, bankrupt your friends, and “keep yourself alive” until you’re the last one rocking any Queen MONOPOLY money to win!

Whether you heard your first Brian May riff in the headbanging scene of Wayne’s World, or you’ve been hooked since “Radio Ga Ga” was on the airwaves, you can soon claim to know most if not all of Queen’s most memorable performances from having been there yourself (if not just passing through).

MONOPOLY: Queen Edition is for 2-6 players, ages 8 and up. Get on your bikes and ride to your local game store to look for the unique vinyl-shaped box, or get it here from The Op’s online shop for $44.99. Start putting together a playlist to plan your Queen-themed game night and tag @theopgames and #theopgames in your social media posts for a chance to be featured on our Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!
