Embark on an Epic Quest Inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Onward – Quests of Yore: Barley’s Edition is Available Now!
Start practicing, young sorcerers! A game from one of your favorite Disney and Pixar movies has materialized to bring you back to a world of wonder, right from your seat at the family table – no spellcasting experience required! Get the family in on the creativity and fun of this roleplaying game, as seen in Disney and Pixar’s Onward, with Quests of Yore: Barley’s Edition!
Ever since we first welcomed Ian and Barley Lightfoot into our homes with the urban fantasy adventure film about two brothers getting a second chance to bond with their late father, the magic that inspired adventurers to go on their own personal quests hasn’t faded. The Op’s Game Design Manager Pat Marino had the incredible opportunity to work closely with the Pixar creative team, along with game writers Ivan van Norman, Mathew Reuther, and Jameson McDaniel, to give fans a way to explore the universe seen in Onward with a real-life version of Quests of Yore!
Featuring the folk and lore of the Disney and Pixar film, players take on the roles of travelers and a storytelling Quest Master as they’re guided through 11 quests, testing their individual and cooperative strength and teamwork. Encounters with elves, goblins, dragons, and of course The Manticore drive imagination that inspires every move of its given characters... and of those created at the table!
Fashioned to look and feel as though the Ian’s excitable brother has loaned out his well-loved personal copy of the game, players of this “Barley’s Edition” will discover his notes, tips, and drawings for how to play and apply them to their own sessions, whether acting as the Quest Master (determining the outcomes of every decision and roll) or being guided as a traveler and assessing every situation before improvising their own actions.
With a tutorial on basic concepts and a system designed to quickly engage gameplay, Quests of Yore: Barley’s Edition initiates new players to hobby games of the RPG genre with ease, while its classic roleplaying themes allow familiars to add their own twist to the adventure. There’s never been a better time than the RPG resurgence to pass the time at home with all new, homespun experiences.
The learn-as-you-go mechanic includes a Quest Tome that contains 11 chapters and a tutorial, an Advanced Player's Guide, 151 Power, Spell, and Item cards, Hex tiles, 64 Heart’s Fire and Grit tokens, three polyhedral dice sets, a Quest Master screen, 6 miniatures, detailed character sheets, and much more! The game’s endless possibilities inspire creativity literally outside of the box, just as it does for Ian and Barley in the film.
Quests of Yore: Barley’s Edition is for 2-5 players, ages 8 and up. Defend the satyrs of Clovendell and embark on your own adventures for $49.99 by asking your local game store for a copy or claim one for yourself when a greater supply is released this September!
