You’ve probably heard the saying “making a mountain out of a molehill” when a minor problem is blown out of proportion, but when you’re a determined burrower of contest-winning dirt piles, the performance is a point of pride! Mountains Out Of Molehills lets players use light strategy and planning to become the mole with the most control, and it’s available now from The Op!
In this signature game designed by Pat Marino and Jim DiCamillo, the annual Mountain Maker tournament is underway, and four loveable characters each with their own style and skills are vying for the title of “Top Tunneler”! Plot your way to Number One as one of these down-to-earth contenders: modest veteran Loama, laidback stacker Sandy, quick-moving Clay, or blind but insightful Pete. They’re meeting at an impressive two-level playing field where every move counts, both above ground and underground!
The game box nestles the “dirt” foundation where the moles create their paths underground. A double-sided upper level provides the landscapes upon which Molehill pieces are placed according to movements below it. As pieces are added from the bottom and up, molehills are made into mountains! Watch molehill values rise in real-time as you build your own piles and take over others. After six rounds, tally up points and the player with the most control wins!
Movement cards are the first step for these blind burrowers to plan out where they’re going. After deciding what order to put them, everyone resolves their routes—and the stacking takes off from there! Take turns rotating, blocking paths with rocks, and toppling piles to spread out your work and cover as much ground as possible. With components featuring custom art by Elena Muñoz, it’s an approachable gateway for everyone in the family to learn card drafting and programming, in a whimsical 3D environment that looks like no other game they’ve played!
Mountains Out Of Molehills is for 2-4 players ages 9 and up, and is available now from your local game store or here in The Op’s online shop! Be the first to learn and master this uniquely hands-on and family-friendly game before launching your own personal Mountain Maker tournament with new tabletop game lovers!
