Keep Calm and Throw Flame in The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 – Available Now

We’ve found something.

Chaotic agendas. Shuffling priorities. Proximity to a team of “sus” colleagues. Compound this with being isolated in a research facility in Antarctica, and it sounds less like life back at the office but instead the premise of a suspenseful tabletop game you may know. A different type of challenge we’ve been anticipating is among us, and it’s a welcome chill and thrill to this already spooky season. “Trust is a hard thing to come by these days” because The Op and Mondo’s The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 is available now to infiltrate your game nights!\

The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31

The product of a partnership originally launched in 2017, The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31 puts 4-8 players in the predicament of John Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic as they take on the roles of a scientific research team, forced to expose and escape a (hidden) lethal enemy among them. In their way, besides deteriorating conditions and barricaded rooms, are limited supplies… and good old-fashioned sabotage by the secretly infected.

To begin, players select a character board and are dealt a Blood Sample Card that determines if they’re Human or an Imitation. Led by a Captain in charge of missions and supplies, the crew divides and conquers to gather rope, dynamite, and flamethrowers, kill any Things, and escape by helicopter. Meet the objectives before max contagion level is reached, before the outpost is destroyed, and without the chopper being contaminated, or the Imitation wins!

The Thing™ Infection at Outpost 31

Our previous transmission about The Thing: Infection at Outpost 31’s re-release promised new recruits and seasoned players greater survival stories to tell. This edition boasts even more ways for crew members to discuss and decide their fate, thanks to three different options to act upon on based on their ability to bluff. But that doesn’t necessarily give an advantage over Imitations, who can now enact a strategy of laying low until the end of the game! The initially cooperative game’s twists and turns cause teammates to disband, culminating in crucial moments where one must “go with their gut” before an Imitation makes a target of it (and imitation is nowhere the sincerest form of flattery with such high stakes)!
