CARLSBAD, Calif.— February 6, 2020 — USAOPOLY (The Op), a leading tabletop games publisher is partnering with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, to offer a nostalgic mashup of the classic board game, Monopoly and The Goonies, the 1985 cult classic movie.
The comedic adventure, produced by Steven Spielberg, has become a classic favorite for movie lovers and was among 1985’s top 10 highest-grossing films. “Goonies never say die! That’s why we’re so excited to bring back all the favorite moments of the beloved classic as fans buy, sell and trade iconic properties throughout Goon Docks and the small town of Astoria, Oregon,” says Maggie Matthews, The Op’s SVP of Licensing. Players will vie for control of One-Eyed Willie’s Cabin, the Pirate Ship Cavern, Sloth’s Room, the Pit of Spikes and 18 other memorable locations as they try to own it all and bankrupt their opponents.
Players will pick one of six collectible movers such as a Gold Doubloon, the Statue of David or Skull & Cross Bones to navigate the game board. MONOPOLY®: The Goonies draws fans straight into the adventure to find One-Eyed Willy’s hidden treasure and will be available throughout North America in specialty stores in late Spring, with a $39.99 MSRP.
