IMPERIAL FORCES PREPARE TO INVADE USAOPOLY® THIS FALL WITH IMMINENT RELEASE OF STAR WARS™: DARK SIDE RISING

Rebels Must Strike Together to Stop the Rise of the Galactic Empire in Upcoming Strategy Tabletop Game Featuring 3D Darth Vader Sculpt 

CARLSBAD, Calif.– May 23, 2019 – There has been a disturbance in the Force today as USAopoly® (The OP) and Disney Consumer Products UK announce Star Wars™: Dark Side Rising, a new cooperative card and dice game. Inspired by the events leading up to and through Star Wars: A New Hope, players must work together in this light strategy tabletop game to recruit rebels and prevent the construction of the ultimate weapon, the original Death Star. Star Wars: Dark Side Rising will be available in the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) regions this autumn.

Utilising The OP’s proprietary game engine, which was recently recognized for its achievement in creativity and innovation with licensed products, Star Wars: Dark Side Rising is a best-in-class cooperative tabletop game that will keep players at the edge of their seats,” said Tony Serebriany, Director of Inventor Relations and International Sales at USAopoly. “As our first game designed specifically for the EMEA regions, approachability had to be one of the foundational design pillars. Star Wars: Dark Side Rising requires strategic thinking but scales in difficulty, making it accessible yet challenging and fun for gamers of all experience levels.”

Star Wars: Dark Side Rising starts each player with an individual board that indicates the Rebel cell they are leading: Intelligence, Leadership, Support or Tactical. The player boards depict the Base of Operations – Tatooine, Alderaan, Yavin 4 or Lothal – and Team Leader (starting character asset) for each player – Captain Cassian Andor, Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker and Hera Syndulla.

Players must coordinate efforts to recruit iconic characters, such as C-3PO, R2-D2, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Admiral Raddus and Han Solo, and organise their cells to thwart the Empire’s rise to galactic domination.

The main game board features a custom-sculpted 3D Darth Vader bust that commands the Imperial operatives and actions with orders to wipe out the Rebels and to make the Death Star operational. Meanwhile, in a race against time, players must be one with the Force as they direct their Rebel efforts across different locations in the galaxy, including Scarif, Eadu and Jedha.

To restore freedom to the galaxy, the Rebels must defeat enough sinister agents before the Empire can either complete construction of the lethal space station or eliminate too many Rebel assets.

Star Wars: Dark Side Rising is designed for two to four players ages 10 and up with an estimated runtime of 45 minutes. The cooperative game includes: 

  • 1 custom-sculpted Darth Vader bust 
  • 1 Death Star board with 6 components
  • 51 asset cards
  • 4 Base of Operations / Rebel cell player boards
  • 17 custom-sculpted dice
  • Mission and Alliance tokens
  • Damage and Operation counters
